‘Venom’ Solo Film: Tom Hardy Is Venom & Ruben Fleischer Will Direct.

Let’s end this week with some juicy movie news.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the scoop that Tom Hardy has signed on to play Venom himself in the upcoming Venom solo movie, and that Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer will direct. Don’t get too excited, though, as there are some asterisks next to this announcement. First thing to realize right off the bat is that this is a separate Spider-Man universe film not at all related to Spider-Man Homecoming or the MCU. Once again, Sony is trying to restart their half of the failed Spider-Man universe. Another problem is that while it’s exciting to see the director of Zombieland take the reigns of this project, he has also done some not-as-good films such as Gangster Squad and 30 Minutes or Less.
