Teabag Prevention Presents: The Road to Recon Armor – Week 3 – Vidmaster Classic
You should be pretty far on your journey to Recon now that you’ve got two of the hardest ODST vidmaster achievements on display in your profile, and I’m sure you feel that excitement in your belly. Your cute widdo behwwy! That excitement dwelled in my belly when me and your sis…
THIS WEEK: THAT ONE WHERE YOU DON’T SHOOT OR USE GRENADES
NOTE: Make sure to set the difficulty at Legendary and play Uplift Reserve
TIP #1 – THIS AIN’T YOU BIRTHDAY
First off, you’ve got Legendary on. This ain’t no Master Chief, so this ain’t gonna be easy, and I’ll tell you one thing, you ain’t gonna go beating Covies down either. Here’s an FYI for ya: The first part of the level is going to be the hardest part. Once you clear it, you SHOULD be on your way.
At the start of the level, you and some good ol fashioned Marines are under fire by Brutes, Grunts, Choppers, and Wraiths. The trickiest part are the Wraiths. There’s really no easy way of killing the two Wraiths that come out, so I’m going to let you in on a little secret: You don’t. Instead, you’ll be doing some running around while waiting for an oppertunity to hijak a vehicle.
You have a couple of Choppers and a Ghost driving around so you’re going to want to hijak one of them. If you hijak the Chopper, you may or may not be able to use the Wraith as a ramp and fly over their heads and onto a checkpoint. Otherwise you’re going to have to zig-zag through and not die. You can get hurt, just don’t die.
Once you make it to the checkpoint, make sure to pick a health pack up.
I don’t care what vehicle you have, you need to get the Ghost on the rock. This Ghost is what’s going to get your achievement.
TIP #2 – SPEED DEMON
After getting your Ghost, you’re going to go over a steep hill and encounter infantry. When you do, take a hard left towards the water, then to the body of water ahead of you. What you’re doing is bypassing the stronger infantry on top of the hill.
Next, you’re going to encounter a mid-sized open area with turrets and vehicles. Simply drive up the side of the hill and you’ll be on your way.
Now you’re onto the firefight part of the mission. Boost through the battle until you encounter the Wraiths. When you do, zig zag through so the turret will have a difficult time hitting you.
Once inside, grab the health pack next to the corpse as he won’t be needing it any time soon.
TIP #3 – GO! DO IT! GO! GO!!!
Next up is a Covie stronghold complete with a Wraith and infantry. What you’re going to want to do is slingshot around the structure and boost right by the Wraith.
Now you should be at the last part of the mission. You have Grunts behind a barricade, turrets to your left, Wraiths, and snipers across the way. What are you going to do? Boost right through. That’s me on the upper left part of your screen!
THINGS TO REMEMBER
- When stuck, boost through.
- Avoid infantry, for they have ‘Nades.
- Don’t go near Wraiths.
- You will get fustrated at some point or another.
- Most of all, DON’T GIVE UP!
- Do a barrel roll.

Another way to get past the first part of the level is to get in the warthog and have a marine use the turret he’ll kill everything for you and you dont have to shoot still. just remember to NOT HONK THE HORN EVER! if you honk the game considers it a shot and wont give you the achievement. again i say DONT HONK THE HORN!
–Ben S.
What about using a Warthog and giving the Marine riding shotgun your Laser? Best bet is going for a ‘Hog thats already on its wheels. For killing Wraiths, just stay at the edge of the Marines range, watch the Wraith, and move a bit when it shoots. I tried this first, but didnt get because I honked the ‘Hogs horn, to get the Marine back into the side seat, and the game considers honking as fireing. I was too annoyed at that to have the patience to do it again. Speed works fine, this way can be for people who want the achievement, and want to make the Covenant suffer.
