Teabag Prevention: How to Suck Less at Gears of War 2 – Week 6 Canals
Canals may be an old map, but that doesn’t mean everyone knows the gist of it. So here I am, typing away, alone, hungry, and in the dark. May I present to you:
THIS WEEK: CANALS
TIP #1 – POWA WEAPONZZZZ
Longshot
Once you get this baby, watch out for enemy fire coming from directly across the map. This often turns into a game of who can get their hands on the rifle and aim it at the enemy player first. Sure, it’s a frustrating concept, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Run your ass off, biznotches.
Torque Bow
This is located under the middle bridge. It’s quite possible that this is the most difficult weapon to get to. You have to maintain fire down the center and be aware of a flanking front towards the low end of the map, snipers, and….nades? Anyway, be sure to employ your teammates to help you out with this one.
Grenades
‘Nades are on top of the center bridge. There are two ways to get there, low ground and high ground. You may need team assistance. If you’re alone, just play it quiet until the enemy thinks it’s safe to pick them up. Like a crocodile and a Gilmore.
Pistol
Some of you may think it’s dumb or stupid to list this as a power weapon. If one of those people is you, then let me tell you, I’ve seen countless men die when they didn’t need to. I’ve also seen people playing Gears of War 2 die unnecessarily. Why did they die? Because they underestimated the power of the Pistols.
TIP #2 – THE UNDERGROUND SNAILROAD
On the first bridge you see, you can get flanked from your left and/or your right. You must take note of this. I’d like to make it clear that there are two sides:
High Ground
Low Ground
Both ways provide much cover allowing totally sick and epic (if you like to misuse that word) battles to take place if needed.
Taking the lower ground can be deadlier because of the height advantage an enemy sniper would have; so this path should rarely be taken. If you can be stealthy and fast, then proceed with caution.
TIP #3 – STEALTH (LIKE THAT MOVIE…STEALTH)
Another stealthy way of getting to where you need to go would be going directly under all of the bridges. This is another deadly way to go, though, due to the height advantages the enemy may have; but if you do this quick enough, you’ll be able to evade the enemy. If you do make it all the way to your destination, going all the way around may be the best and stealthiest route.
But remember, you’re not going to have time to make these kind of decisions, so make them while you’re running and evading fire if you have to.
TIP #4 – YOU’RE IT
Obviously, you want to tag the most accessed areas. Both low ground and high ground areas are ideal. Tag tag tag. Tag. It’s planning ahead, so tag. Tag.
