Pokemon Designer Killed In Tragic Accident
Sunday afternoon, Eric Medalle, a Creative Design Director at The Pokemon Company, was taking one of his two daughters on a drive through Seward Park in Seattle when, at approximately 1:30 P.M., a Douglas fir tree fell on his SUV–killing Madelle and inflicting minor injuries to his daughter. Medalle was 42.
From Pokemon Soul Silver/Heart Gold to the recent Pokemon Alpha Sapphire/Omega Red entries, Medalle was responsible for the graphic design and artwork of much of the Pokemon games released in the last five years. Additionally, he was responsible for much of the art and logos in the Pokemon Trading Card Game.
Medalle is survived by his wife and two daughters–ages 6 and 2. A fund has begun to help see Medalle’s wish of helping his children attend college. As stated on the YouCare website which is hosting fundraiser, “Eric’s expectation for his daughters was college, and to honor that expectation, we can ensure that college remains a reality for his girls. It is important that Isa and Nico are able to learn and grow, to discover what they love and pursue it to the fullest, just as their father did.”
Those wishing to contribute to the fund can do so here.
We here at Geekscape offer our heartfelt condolences to the Medalle family.
