New Regency And Ubisoft Hire Write For ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Adaptation
New Regency and Ubisoft have tapped up-and-coming writer Michael Lesslie to write the screenplay for the film adaptation of Assassin’s Creed. The film, which will star and be produced by Michael Fassbender, is expected to hit theaters sometime next year.
Lesslie is an acclaimed English playwright and wrote Prince Of Denmark, which was performed at the National Theatre in 2012, as well as penning a number of short film. New Regency and Ubisoft are now seeking a director and additional producers for the film.
The film definitely has quite a bit of hype surrounding it, especially due to the popularity of the game franchise. The series centers on a bartender who is captured by a secret corporation and sent back in time to relive the memories of his ancestors, who all just happen to be assassins, and retrieve ancient artifacts. No current release date has been set, but with an expected 2014 release date we may see an announcement over the coming months.
