Panel #1 -Motion Comics 10:30 A.M.
So, after an exhausting 24 hours, I’m now attending the Motion Comics panel. On the panel, we have people like Dave Gibbons, and some other people. haha. What’s news to me is the fact that there’s going to be a Motion Comic based on Superman: Red Sun. If you have not picked that up yet, I suggest you do.
Quick notes:
- The motion comic bussiness is very new and the people behind it are looking to expand.
- Only the easily re cognizable hereoes are having their stories told through motion comics.
- They CAN become a passtime in geek culture.
- They’re awesome, if done right.
Not much to add here. Mostly artists talking about how they came into the motion comic bussiness. Clips are being shown that are really cool. After this, ODST!
ODST. First off, I have to say that I was impressed with the overall gameplay and how it felt. There were a few surprises, mostly because I haven’t really kept up with what’s changed. What I played was a 10 minute firefight game. But now, I know.
What’s new:
- No more equipment.
- No more duel-wielding.
- No more motion tracker.
- You’re no longer able to jump as high as well as run as fast as you could in Halo 3.
- You’re not able throw grenades as far.
- Health bar! (Bad)
- Ability to carry more than two grenades. Finally.
- Hijacking is still an option.
- Brute Plasma Rifle is BACK!
That’s all for now. I WILL be writing a full blown article on my findings while playing ODST. The above facts aren’t enough, I know. I’ll also be updating y’all with my impressions on Marvel: Ultimate Allience 2, and news from Capcom’s Panel as well as Halo’s.
Capcom Panel: 3:15
Lost Planet 2
- 4-player Co-op
- Massive monster boss battles!
- Customizable characters
- Various enviroments
Other than that, same ol’ Lost Planet.
Dark Void
Now, this video game was unknown to me beforehand. The dev said something along the lines of imagining Crimson Skies, but with jetpacks and the ability to land and engage in either ground combat, or you can stay in the air and engage in ariel combat.
One more thing, Will, the main character, is a “cross between Boba Fett and the Rocketeer.”
The Halo Panel
Halo Legends was announced in this panel. Basically, Halo Lengends is an anime based on the Halo universe and it’s whole timeline. Now, when I say timeline I mean everything from the Forerunner-Flood war to the end of Halo 3. Main characters include those from the books as well as Master Chief.
What stuck out to me was the fact that Halo’s multiplayer maps, specifically in Halo 3 and ODST, are going to play a role in the anime. Maps that I saw were Ghost Town and Security Zone (ODST).
As far as the other slides go, all of the art looks just and amazing. It’s a little different, but something like that is needed when you approach something like this from a new angle. Time to see the trailer again!
Upon seeing the trailer again, I noticed CQB armor.
Left 4 Dead 2
I just got back from playing L4D2. I have to admit, it’s pretty awesome. The new weapons, enemies and enviroment make it fresh. Yes, this could’ve been what ODST is to Halo 3, but no one’s perfect. What’s important here is to relaize that this game won’t be a let down.
What’s new
- Upgradable ammunition
- A deadlier enviroment.
- New enemies.
- New weapons.
- And best of all, new characters.
Do I miss Zoe, Louis, Bill, Francis? Yes. Will I be content with this new batch of characters? Yes.
MUA2
I got a chance to play some MUA2, and i know for a fact that it’s going to be better than the last. There’s a few bugs here an there, such as Spider-Man getting stuck shooting webs, only the webs weren’t on their way out so in turn it looked like he was just thrusting into the air.
Other than that, I like new and improved graphic engine. No more cell- shaded graphics! YEAH!
FRIDAY
Dead Space
Not really anything new on this game, other than it’s on the Wii. I know, I know, the Wii sucks graphic wise, or all around wise *snicker*, but this actaully looks good. If you’ve read anything about it, you’ll know its the prequel to the original and that it’s based around the animated movie as well as the comic. Oh, and there’s Co-op!
If you liked the first one, you’ll probably be very happy with this one.
-DarknessOrchid (Kelsie Nicole)
District 9
While I didn’t get into the movie itself, (;_;), I DID get into the Panel.
Let me just say that this movie looks amazing. A 7-minute clip was shown that basically outlined the plot. This might be the best movie of this Summer.
SATURDAY
LOST
- People on the Panel included: Sawyer, Ben, Hurley, Richard Alpert, and the creators.
- Biggest surprise was Dominic Monaghan walking out onto stage. It’s quite possible that he and possibly other characters from seasons past.
