Geekscape Recaps: ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ – Pilot Pt. 2!

Legends of Tomorrow kept the momentum it built up last week and delivered another great episode. There’s really no telling where Legends is going to go to next. That’ll probably be the new norm in DCTV since, you know, they have all of time to explore.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

Last week, I went over just how Savage might have come across some Nuclear Warheads in Norway 1975. In what was supposed to be an auction of sorts, our Legends crashed the party and made an attempt on Savage’s life. The attempt was thwarted when Savage activated a nuclear bomb. Before that though, we were treated by an appearance of Damien Darhk. This was a nice touch to further tie the DCTV universe together.

In Arrow, it’s been stated that Darhk doesn’t seem to age. While we haven’t found the reason for this yet, it’s kinda nice to see same appearance, just in 1975. It also makes sense that Darhk would be there with an organization, which we can only assume is H.I.V.E.

The Time Steam

We got an even better handle on just how the time stream will be affected with all this time traveling. One of the major consequences last night was Stein’s life. Having gone back and talked to his younger self, Stein was in danger of never meeting his would-be wife and thus would go on to live the single life.

Aside from that, we also got deeper into the relationship between Hawkgirl and Hawkman. On the dagger they were both initially killed by, a secret love poem discussed how destiny and love were tied together. Remembering reading this inscription helped trigger some of Hawkgirl’s feelings for her partner.

However, he soon died and she was severely injured. With Hawkman dead, one would think that Rip and company will probably head back into the future to pick up Hawkman’s reincarnated self.

Ivy Town

Other than Norway, the Legends landed in Ivy Town, New England. While here, Captain Cold, Heat Wave, and Atom stumbled into Savage’s home to steal the dagger used to kill Hawkman and Hawkgirl in ancient Egypt. As for the rest of the team, they visited Ivy University. Of course, the name of the university suggests that they’re an ivy-league school. In the comics, the school’s students and faculty have some of the brightest minds. Part of their faculty consists of Ray Palmer (Atom), Ryan Choi (Atom Post-Palmer), and Doris Zuel (Giganta).

Giganta is a villain that can grow in size. In the past, she has been affiliated with the Injustice League, the Secret Six, and The Legion of Doom. While I doubt we’ll see Zuel in this universe, it’s nice to know the possibility is there.

Ivy town is also a place that acts like a magnet to happenings involving theoretical physics and vortexs. Much of this is attributed to constant experimentation at the hands of Ray Palmer. It would’t be all that surprising if Ivy Town shows up again down the line in either Arrow or The Flash.

By the end of the episode it appears Rip Hunter’s team seems to be coming together. It’s exciting to see where this show will go next. But if I had to guess? Probably a few decades after 2016 to pick up Hawkman.

That’s all for this week! Thanks for reading!
