‘Disney Infinity 2.0’ Brings ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ To Its Limitless Universe!

Right in time for its August 1st theatrical release, (and days before Comic Con), Disney Interactive has announced that the Guardians of the Galaxy are coming to Disney Infinity in a huge way, with an entire playset dedicated to the band of losers.

The entire group from the film is being brought to life in figure form, which includes Star Lord, Gamura, Drax, Rocket Raccoon and Groot. The play set, which will take place inside Knowhere, (his eye socket, more specifically), features the crew trying to fight off Ronnan the Accuser, who is in pursuit of them after the team has apparently stolen a valuable artifact. While the set won’t be a direct adaptation of the film, it should be familiar enough to anyone who jumps in after checking the movie out.

In addition to the core cast, other characters from the Marvel universe will appear in various forms, from Iron Man and Nova as palayble crossover characters that will need to be unlocked, to Yondu, The Collector, and Cosmo the Dog, who primarily act as mission providers. In Yondu’s case, he will also appear as a Marvel Sidekick, featured as one of the new Guardians themed Power Discs, as well as the following:

Space Armor- Gamoras armor, which boosts defense.

Yondu- A new Marvel Team Up, who will use his arrows to support you in combat for a short time.

Groots Roots and Groots View and the Rip- A new Groot inspired Skydome and Theme for the Toy Box.

Star Lord’s Galaxy- a Knowhere theme for the Toy Box, making GOTG the only series so far to have more than one theme.

As with every other figure, these newly revealed characters will all work in the customizable Toy Box, as well as Attack On Asgard, the tower defense themed structure toy box game, which is new to 2.0. No word on whether or not they’ll work with any future structure games.

I can’t think of a better way to hype up the upcoming film! I’m not even that into the property, but with the large amount of content heading to Infinity, it’s hard not to get excited.

Who else plans on picking up the entire set? Disney Infinity 2.0 is on track for a September 23rd release, with the Guardians of the Galaxy Play Set arriving shortly after.
