Callie And Marie Will Bring The Splatfest To Your amiibo Collection This Summer!
It was inevitable that Nintendo would release Callie and Marie amiibo, right? I mean, when you consider the wild success of Splatoon after it released last year, and how the Squid Sisters were so popular that they got their own live concert back in January. Data mining showed that their amiibo were at least planned, but we had no idea when, or even if these toys would ever be a thing.
Turns out, we’re going to have them a lot sooner than we expected.
On July 8th, the Toys To Life section will become one big Splatfest, because that’s when the Squid Sisters will make their big debut! Releasing exclusively in a double pack and retailing at $24.99, the amount of detail going into both seems to be above and beyond the typical Nintendo figure, (which have had the tendency to look like McDonalds toys in certain cases). I mean, just look at them in the reveal trailer below! They have sparkles on their dress!
If that wasn’t enough excitement for you, the original Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl and Squid amiibo from last May will also get a re-release on the same day, featuring alternate colors of each. Retailing at $34.99 for the triple pack, or $12.99 individually, they line up with how the previous sets were released in price as well. While the boy and girl will still be available on their own, the squid can only be obtained by buying the triple pack. Again. Why does Nintendo do this to us!?
Anyway, Callie and Marie will unlock a variety of new songs and scenes featuring the pair when they’re not announcing the upcoming battle stages, or pitting friends and families against each other with their Splatfests. Any other functionality has yet to be announced, but can we please get Mario Maker costumes? Thanks in advance!
