The Top 3 Games of Summer!

I’m sure Summer has had its ups and downs this year, no matter who you are, but one thing’s for certain: video games have been there for you…unless you lost your house or got your electricity shut off…but hey! I’m sure you’ve picked up at least one game this Summer.

#3 – Battlefield 1943

Sure, it was a little on the expensive side, but overall, it’s a great arcade game, that is, if multiplayer gets you going…

The game is set around the events in the Pacific campaign during WWII. There are three classes available to you throughout the matches, each with a different purpose. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the game at all, it’s like a toned down online-only Star Wars Battlefront. Still, if you get a group of friends together, island-hopping will much more fun.

Pros: Battlefield 1943 provides an awesome multiplayer experience, especially with friends.

Cons: The flight controls are a little messy, and there’s no single player mode. Then again, do you need one?

#2 – Marvel vs. Capcom 2

I for one was glad to see it back as well as was happy with the outcome. Many said its inferior to the original or the arcade version, and depending on who you are, it can be. But for me, it’s everything I hoped for.

With private player matches as well as ranked matches, this game has yet to bore me. There are 166,320 ways to build your team. And with that, I rest my case.

Pros: Everything you loved from what you fell in love with is back.

Cons: The people who get off on pressing the same buttons over and over who run into you during ranked and player matches. Yes, player matches too. You know who you are.

#1 – Batman: Arkham Asylum

This game has the possibility for being on many Game of the Year lists. If you have the money, I suggest you go out and buy this game right now. It’s easily the best super-hero video game out there, (besides City of Heroes).

The game’s story is well-written, the voice acting is great, and the free-flow combat system is amazing. I assure you, unlike Spider-man games, you will not get tired of playing this for a good 2-3 hours straight. Not only that, but at some times, it can feel like a cinematic experience – almost like you’re playing through a Batman movie (non-Schumaker)

Pros: It’s Batman, and it’s awesome. The graphics are nice along with the controls. Buy it.

Honorable mention:

 I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1

This “Indie” game sells for 80 MS points on the marketplace, and believe me, its worth every point.

I MAED A GAME3 W1TH ZOMB1ES!!!1 has an awesome soundtrack with awesome gameplay similar to Geometry Wars. The game features a wide array of weapons and power ups to keep you going till the very end. And if you’re not enough, sign up to three friends in  and you’ll be on your way. Seriously though, play it. You’ll love it.

Pros: Fun, cost efficient, and awesome soundtrack. Reminds you why Indie games exist.

Cons: No Xbox Live support. That means the absence of leaderboards and online co-op.
