Teabag Prevention Presents: Halo Vol.2 – Mythic Map Pack Review

After playing around with the mythic map pack for a few weeks, I can honestly say that I’m satisfied. They’re fun, they’re new, and they’re easy to learn. If you didn’t get the Mythic Map Pack while you had the chance, then it really is your loss, grandma.

Bungie has been releasing map packs for almost six years now. As far as Halo 3 goes, the first map pack released for the game is definitely the weakest. With the first one, the only map that you got any real meat on was, of course, Foundry because of the forge ability. The Legendary and Mythic maps don’t disappoint. I’m sure that these maps aren’t likely to get vetoed unless some people don’t like the game type or they weren’t hugged enough as children.

Sandbox

The ultimate Forge map. This simple map will have you thinking over your battle tactics and have you cruising around in your chopper, runnin’ bitches over like it’s the late 90’s.

Assembly

Finding your way around this circular map can be a little difficult at first, but in the long run, you’ll enjoy it more than others. Rockets, Gravity Hammer, and Maulers? It’s like Christmas at my house!

Orbital

With many corridors, twists, turns, waiting, and dead bodies, Orbital offers up strategic ways to accomplish objectives you’ll, more than likely, be playing in matchmaking on this map. Just don’t forget to ride the mongoose and to watch your ass. Great objective map.

I’m usually one on giving you advice, so, here it goes: As soon as these maps hit the marketplace, you should be ready to buy them. Money won’t be wasted here. Even though all three maps are medium-sized, and cater largely to objective based games, they are great for Slayer and Team Slayer matches. Make sure you get some friends together and play though some custom games on these maps, that way you can all learn and have fun together (unlike what I do with my friends, which is learn alone, then make them cry in their sleep over how much I own them *whoopah!*) If your ability to make friends on Xbox Life mirrors your ability to make friends in real life, or mine, matchmaking is also a great way to spice up your lonely nights (must…stay…off…craigs…list…). Just consider playing with your headset off, that way you’ll mitigate the amount of foul-mouthery and offensiveness you usually subject yourself to by not muting every player of this game, cause c’mon, we’re above that here.

The maps on sale at the marketplace April 9, 2009.
