Over 1 Million PS4’s Sold In First 24 Hours!
Briefly: Well, the PS4 is a hit.
Sony revealed earlier today that in the first 24 hours of availability, the company’s newest console sold over 1 million units.
“PS4 was designed with an unwavering commitment to gamers, and we are thrilled that consumer reaction has been so phenomenal,” said Andrew House, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. “Sales remain very strong in North America, and we expect continued enthusiasm as we launch the PlayStation 4 in Europe and Latin America on November 29. We are extremely grateful for the passion of PlayStation fans and thank them for their continued support.”
In comparison, Nintendo’s latest home console, the Wii U, sold just 400,000 units in its first week, the PS3 sold 197,000 in its first two weeks, and the Xbox 360 sold through 326,000 in its first two weeks.
Those are some pretty fantastic numbers! I waited outside my local Wal-Mart to get my hands on one (check out my unboxing here), and am loving it so far!
