E3 2016: ‘The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild’ Gets Some Impressive New Amiibo
It may be true that all the buzz revolving around Nintendo’s E3 lineup this year completely revolved around The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but that doesn’t mean that there wasn’t exciting news about the upcoming Wii U and NX title outside of the game itself, especially if you’re an Amiibo fan.
Alongside the game itself, Nintendo revealed three new Toys To Life figures that will accompany the game when it releases early next year. Featuring a figure showing what’s become Link’s iconic pose for this game, with him visibly being in the air while drawing his bow, Link double dips with a second Amiibo showing him on horseback with the Sheikah Slate visible on his hip, which is an important tool for finding dungeons if our demo was any indication. Rounding out the set is the giant tentacle wielding robot boss that was featured in the trailer, boasting its status as the first Amiibo with movable parts.
How these characters will function in the game itself has yet to be revealed, but what we did learn is that the Wolf Link Amiibo from Twilight Princess HD will allow Link’s previous wolf form to accompany the new iteration of the character on his travels. As a bonus, if you complete the bonus dungeon that the figure unlocks in its native game, the amount of hearts he had when it was completed will carry over to Breath of the Wild, allowing him to live longer as you fight, hunt and explore this new Hyrule.
